Windsong

INTRODUCTION
I’ve been sailing for over thirty years! It all started as a kid on staff at a Boy Scout camp. By the time I was in college, I was building canoes and rigging them for sailing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in northern Minnesota among other places. In 1973, I built my first “real” sailboat from a kit – a 21’Luger Westwind sloop rigged center-boarder. (That boat is still sailing in Minnesota thirty years later.) In 1981, I built a Bruce Roberts designed 25′ motorsailer. (That boat is currently sailing out of Saco, Maine.) For many years, in addition to my passion for building and sailing boats, I was a USCG licensed captain.

Family and professional considerations have led me to set aside boat building for a time, though work represented on this Web site demonstrates that the passion has not died. In September of 2002, we purchased a 1995 Seaward 25 and have had a great time making it our own. Its first serious cruise was a week on Lake Champlain where it performed admirably. This Web site will document the evolution of the boat as well as some of its travels.

I hope that this site will infect you with the passion born in me as a result of my relationship with Windsong . . . the sailing . . . the maintaining . . . the upgrading . . . And I hope it will offer you some practical ideas the will improve your experience of sailing.
