Harmony

INTRODUCTION
Harmony was built in 1980 and 1981 in Grand Marais, Minnesota. She was designed by noted Australian nautical architect, Bruce Roberts. The hull and deck were laid up in molds owned by Roberts and Hobbs, a company based in Huntington Beach, California. The steel trailer was custom built in Grand Marais and trailed to California to take delivery of the hull and deck.

Over a period of approximately 18 months, the boat was lovingly built. Lead was cast for the keel. Bulkheads and solid floors were installed. The engine and mechanical systems were designed and installed. Sails were designed and sewn on the floor of the Congregational Church social hall.

The boat was originally rigged as a free-standing cat-ketch with wishbone booms. Both spars and booms were made of aluminum. In 1986, the boat was re-rigged with homemade carbon-fiber spars. Unfortunately the enginerring was flawed and they had a very short but illustrious life! The boat was finally sloop rigged in 1987.

Windsong was sailed for many years on the north shore of Lake Superior. She covered thousands of miles all over the lake . . . the Apostle Islands, Isle Royale, the remote reaches of the Canadian shore.

After moving to New England, she spent several years on Lake Winnepesaukee and Lake Sunappee in New Hampshire.

She was finally sold and moved to Biddeford, Maine.
